Tissue culture study of human retinoblastoma.

چکیده
Cells derived from four human retinoblastomas were maintained in culture for periods ranging from 2 to 24 months. The tumors grew in vitro in a biphasic manner with an undifferentiated stroma attached to the surface of the tissue culture flask and clusters of well-differentiated retinoblastoma cells growing in suspension. The cells in suspension continued to produce Flexner-Wintersteiner rosettes and on electron microscopy contained microtubules.

Molecular Investigation of the Human Adenovirus in Retinoblastoma Patients
Background and Aims: Retinoblastoma tumors are the most common intraocular malignancy in childhood, leading to death after two years. The Human Adenovirus (HAdV) infection could be critical in the retinoblastoma pathogenesis due to the virus and retinoblastoma 1 interactions. The objective of the current study was to investigate the possible presence of the HAdV genome in the retinoblastoma pat...
متن کاملCo-cultivation of retinoblastoma with fibroblasts, iris pigment epithelium, and retinal pigment epithelium in tissue culture.
Retinoblastoma cells of the Y79 line were co-cultivated with human fibroblasts and bovine iris and retinal pigment epithelium in tissue culture. The Y79 cells, which characteristically grow as a suspension culture, were found to attach directly to the fibroblasts and pigment epithelium on the flask surface. Electron microscopic examination of the fibroblast-retinoblastoma co-cultures revealed n...
متن کاملRetinoblastoma: tissue culture lines and monoclonal antibody studies.
Retinoblastoma patients have cellular and humoral reactivity towards antigens expressed on retinoblastoma cells. We report the ultrastructural, cytogenetic, and immunologic features of four new retinoblastoma derived tissue culture cell lines. Studies with hybridoma produced monoclonal antibodies demonstrate that these lines share antigens with a previously described long-term allogeneic retino...
متن کاملReproducible growth in tissue culture of retinoblastoma tumor specimens.
Retinoblastoma is a unique embryonic tumor which frequently arises because of an autosomal dominantly inherited mutation. Study of the genetic changes associated with retinoblastomas requires techniques that allow proliferation of fresh tumor specimens in tissue culture. However, until the present study, there were no reported methods for routinely obtaining in vitro growth of fresh retinoblast...
متن کاملP-23: The Effect of LIF on In Vitro Growth and Apoptosis Incidence in Vitrified Human Ovarian Tissue after 14 days culture
Background The high effectiveness of vitrification, as a cryopreservation protocol, for human oocytes and embryos is shown, whereas data on human ovarian tissue are limited. This study aimed to assessment of follicular growth, ultrastructure, and apoptosis incidence in human ovarian tissue following vitrification/warming and after culture in the presence of LIF. MaterialsAndMethods Ovarian cort...
